Harris Voluntary Service exists to represent & support the voluntary sector, to assist organisations in coming together for common purposes, and to enable local people to gain access to decision-making processes which affect their community.

Here at Harris Voluntary Service, we provide support services for third sector organisations, charities and community groups. Established in 1964, we are a Company limited through guarantee and a registered charity.

Juliette Desportes
Development Manager
Juliette works closely with our member organisations and community groups to plan and develop their ongoing projects. Her mission is to support the third sector at the local scale in the form of guidance, information, and assistance.
Juliette is also the Harris representative on the Third Sector Interface Western Isles partnership, who, along with other Chief Officers in Lewis, Uist & Barra, provide support to local charitable organisations, community groups, and volunteer involving organisations.

Judi Dolton
Administrator
Judi is responsible for the office processes and financial support services both for the organisation and external member services such as Direct Payments, Payroll, contracts and staffing provisions.
​
All aspects of administration from IT, company legislative registrations through to staff holiday and expenses management are managed by Judi. These also include project financials and reporting.

Alena Bihan-Gallic
Communication and Project Officer
Alena is the editor of our community newsletter, ‘Dè tha dol?’. She keeps the community informed about local news and stories and gives local organisations the opportunity to raise awareness about their work.
‘Dè tha dol?’ is published each fortnight. In addition to writing articles and features, Alena liaises with ongoing contributors and press offices. Following proofreading and editing, the printing and distribution of ‘Dè tha dol?’ also lies with Alena and the rest of the HVS team.
